Flight Attendant

Responsibilities:
- Ensures the highest levels of safety and security for passengers and crew.

- Engages directly with customers, utilizing interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and compassion to resolve issues and foster loyalty.
- Represents United Airlines with pride and professionalism.
- Maintains availability for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfills reserve assignments on short notice and remains away from base for extended periods.
- Works independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Serves and/or sells food and beverages (including alcohol) diligently and professionally.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, or social service).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and loudly in English. Fluency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently. Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
- Must be able to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history.
Compensation and Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with potential increases based on seniority, language skills, and responsibilities. Benefits include:

New hires will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. A $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch are provided during training. Upon successful completion of training, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hub locations.
