Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security for all passengers.
- Adapt and respond effectively to diverse customer-facing scenarios.

- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
- Work both independently and as a contributing member of a team.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.

Training:
- Successful candidates will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards.
- United provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training.
- Upon successful completion of training, the candidate will be assigned to one of United's hubs or other flight attendant base locations.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social service).
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards and uniform guidelines.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to its expiration.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.
- Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card / employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or they must be covered with standard uniform pieces. Tattoos may not be offensive (violent, obscene, sexual, racist, or contain objectionable content or imagery that includes weapons).
- Decorative covers, adornments and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
