As an A220 Type Rating Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in the Airbus Canada Training Centre, delivering flight and simulator training to diverse international and internal clientele.
In this capacity, you will represent Airbus Canada, serving as a liaison with customers, operators, and authorities. Working closely with teams worldwide, you will have opportunities to expand your expertise in various fields and roles, including management and project positions.
Prerequisites:
- Holds an ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) aircraft issued by either EASA, TCCA, or FAA.
- Holds a valid EASA TRI, FAA Flight Instructor Aircraft, or TCCA Instructor Appointment issued by a Canadian Operator on BD-500.
- Holds a valid Medical Class 1 in accordance with the respective Hold ATPL requirement (e.g., EASA, TCCA, or FAA).
- Holds a minimum English Language Proficiency Rating of 4.
- Demonstrates fluency in English.
- Holds a Low Visibility Operations qualification.
- Holds or has held an ETOPS qualification.
- Possesses the following flight hour experience:
- A minimum of 5,000 hours as a Pilot.
- A minimum of 3,000 hours on Jet Large aircraft above 50t MTOW.
- A minimum of 1,000 hours as Captain on Airbus Aircraft.
- A minimum of 500 hours instructor experience in FFS on large aircraft.
- A minimum of 500 hours experience as Captain assigned to conduct LIFUS/IOE.
- A significant portion of the acquired instructor experience must be initial type rating-oriented.
- Is qualified (current) and experienced as Captain and Flight Instructor on BD-500.
- Possesses Examiner experience (an asset).
- Has significant Commercial Airline Experience.
- Demonstrates expertise in Evidence-Based Training / Competences-Based Training Assessment.
- Displays a project management mindset.
- Possesses managerial experience (an asset).
- Experience in Flight Safety (an asset).
Accountabilities:
The A220 Type Rating Instructor reports directly to the Chief Flight Instructor within the Flight Crew Training organization at the Airbus Canada Training Centre.
Base:
The contract is based in Mirabel, Canada. Commuting is not possible.
Main Activities:
As a Type Rating Instructor / Flight Instructor Aircraft for Airbus Canada, the incumbent will provide:
- Line training or Line checking for Airbus A220.
- Simulator training or Simulator checking for Airbus Canada, primarily in Dorval, Canada.
- Support to the TFOS (Training & Flight Operations Services) community.
- Support office activities upon request.
The primary roles of the A220 Type Rating Instructor are:
- To conduct the highest quality training and checking, aligned with their qualifications within Airbus Canada Training, to ensure a safe and efficient entry-into-service and operation of Airbus A220 (BD-500) aircraft. This encompasses:
- In-flight (Initial Operating Experience)
- In simulator / FSTDs
- In classroom and/or equivalent (e.g., virtual classroom)
- To work on various projects upon request within the TFOS framework.
- To represent Airbus Canada Training and Manufacturer in front of the customer, which includes:
- Supporting the customer, particularly during the flight period, to ensure entry into service, safety, etc.
- Taking a proactive role in identifying potential problems and finding solutions.
- Acting as Team Leader during Initial Operating Experience, coordinating with both the Airbus Canada team and the airline.
- To ensure standardization, development, and management tasks throughout their career at Airbus Canada.
- To maintain and upgrade their skills based on their qualifications.
