About the Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) Program:
WASS, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, is an AAR business dedicated to providing world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description:
The WASS Pilot – RW – ME will serve as the Chief of Standard's representative in interpreting and implementing the organization's Aircrew Training Program (ATP) with respect to maintenance. This role involves managing the WASS Aircrew Maintenance Standardization Program globally, conducting Maintenance Test Flights, Maintenance Test Pilot Evaluations, and Maintenance Pilot Training, including the management of the ATP. The incumbent will also assist with updating aviation references and publications and introducing new aircraft types to the Air Wing as required. This position is based at Patrick AFB but requires domestic and international travel up to 90 days annually at 10-30 day intervals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the WASS Aircrew Maintenance Standardization Program globally.
- Conduct training and evaluations of Rotary Wing Maintenance Pilots (MP) and Maintenance Examiners (ME) within the Continental United States (CONUS) and abroad, including maintenance standardization program oversight in deployed locations.
- Ensure full integration of MP-MEs into the ATP, guaranteeing compliance with all operational directives, Aircrew Training Manuals (ATM), and ATP requirements.
- Manage standardization administrative duties, encompassing flight records, AWIS, reports, publications, and references.
- Serve as the single point of contact for Maintenance Test Pilot standardization.
- Perform operational checks, routine maintenance, and maintenance test flights to ensure the airworthiness of the fleet.
- Participate in the selection and training process for new Maintenance Pilots and Maintenance Examiners within the program.
- Serve as an Instructor Pilot, providing guidance and instruction as necessary.
- Maintain Night Vision Goggle (NVG) currency and instrument proficiency.
- Serve as a member of the Standardization Committee, offering guidance to all MPs-MEs and proposing improvements and modifications to the existing ATP to align with current and future mission requirements.
- Oversee flight instruction, including standardization of transitions, annual proficiency reviews, and flight evaluations.
- Conduct academic and hands-on performance training and administer evaluations to ensure crew-member proficiency and training standardization.
- Maintain Instructor Aircrew Training Files (IATFs) and complete required AWIS entries.
- This position requires a U.S. security clearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate, Rotorcraft Helicopter.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Completion of a documented civil or military maintenance test pilot course (MP-ME).
- Minimum 1,500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with at least 300 hours of NVG experience.
- 100 hours of maintenance pilot time.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
- Ability to meet any physical demands required for the job (refer to the Physical Demands section of the job description).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior MP-ME Experience.
- Prior experience with UH-60, UH-1, and other aircraft types.
- Prior experience developing and updating Rotary Wing Aviation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Flight Manuals, and Courseware.
