Location: Kinston, NC (Remote)

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview

The Second In Command (SIC) reports administratively to the Chief Pilot and operationally to the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) during flight. The SIC is responsible for assisting the PIC in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Execute safe and efficient flight operations for domestic trip assignments under Part 135 regulations while maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Adhere to duties and responsibilities outlined in company procedure manuals.
  • Maintain a current first-class medical certificate and notify the company of any conditions that may impair flight duties.
  • Coordinate and lead the crew with professionalism.
  • Perform passenger-facing duties, including greeting, seating assistance, luggage storage, and conducting safety briefings.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • ATP complete.
  • FAA First Class Medical certificate.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours total time (fixed wing).
  • Minimum of 250 hours of multi-engine time.
  • Valid passport and ability to obtain/maintain CANPASS authorization for unrestricted travel to/from Canada.
  • Appropriate Type Rating.
  • Working knowledge of FAA, ICAO, and Part 135 flight operations regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mobile applications.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment/random drug and alcohol testing as required for safety-sensitive roles.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • At least 2,500 hours of total time (fixed wing).
  • At least 500 hours of multi-engine time.
  • Type rated in a Challenger or Regional Jet.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who demonstrates accountability, strong problem-solving skills under pressure, and effective interpersonal communication. Candidates must possess strong critical thinking, time management, and multitasking abilities, alongside a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to professional presentation.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role involves 100% travel while on rotation. The work environment includes exposure to outdoor, industrial, and aircraft cabin environments, including loud machinery and extreme temperatures. Physical requirements include the ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 70 lbs, climb, bend, crouch, and move in tight spaces. Candidates must have clear vision and hearing, and the ability to speak and read English fluently.
