First Officer, Learjet Fleet
Phoenix Air is seeking a highly motivated and skilled First Officer to join its Learjet fleet based in the Norfolk, Virginia area. The First Officer serves as the Second in Command (SIC) and is directly responsible for assisting the Captain throughout all phases of flight operations, including pre-flight planning, in-flight execution, and post-flight mission requirements. This challenging role involves multi-week, worldwide international deployments, requiring a high degree of professionalism, adaptability, and global awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, company regulations, and scheduling policies applicable to the position.
- Providing comprehensive assistance to the Captain to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of each flight mission.
- Accurately completing all mission-related paperwork, controlling receipts, and managing other necessary documentation.
- Demonstrating proficiency in all required duties and exercising sound judgment commensurate with the responsibilities of a Captain.
- Adhering to FAR 135.267 and maintaining joint responsibility for managing personal flight time, duty time limitations, and ensuring ongoing qualification standards, including aircraft currency and medical fitness.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid FAA Medical Certificate.
- Recent flight experience demonstrating current proficiency.
- The ability to clearly demonstrate an understanding of relevant aviation regulations.
- An unrestricted U.S. Passport valid for international travel.
- A valid FCC Radio License.
- A clean record with no violations or FAA enforcement actions.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 750 hours Total Time (TT) and Commercial Pilot (CMEL) and Instrument (I) ratings OR minimum 500 hours Total Time (TT) with a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 100 hours of multi-engine flight time is highly preferred.
- An Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate is a plus.
- Prior flight experience in Learjet or Gulfstream aircraft is advantageous.
- Previous international flight experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in a second language is valuable.
- Possession of a valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with appropriate aircraft type ratings is a significant asset.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a valid U.S. passport.
- The ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and a comprehensive background check is required.
- Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary security clearance for worldwide operations.
- Full vaccination against Covid-19 is required prior to the first international deployment.

The role requires meeting FAA medical standards and involves physical demands typical of an aviation professional, including sitting for extended periods, adherence to visual standards, clear auditory communication, mobility within a confined aircraft cabin, and the ability to perform essential functions requiring dexterity and physical maneuvering.
