First Officer - Learjet Fleet
Phoenix Air is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled First Officer to join its team, operating its Learjet fleet. This position is based in the Norfolk, Virginia area and offers the unique opportunity for multi-week, worldwide international deployments.
As a First Officer (Second in Command - SIC), the individual will serve a critical role directly supporting the Captain throughout all phases of flight. Responsibilities include assisting the Captain with comprehensive pre-flight planning and preparation, ensuring safe and efficient flight execution, and successfully completing post-flight mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring full compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company regulations, and scheduling policies pertinent to the role.
- Providing essential support to the Captain to facilitate the safe and efficient conduct of each flight, from the initial planning stages through to flight termination.
- Managing the accurate and complete processing of all mission-related paperwork, including the meticulous control of receipts and necessary documentation.
- Demonstrating proficiency in all required duties and exercising the judgment expected of a Captain when necessary.
- Maintaining personal compliance with FAR 135.267 limitations concerning flight time and duty time, and proactively ensuring the maintenance of all necessary aircraft and flight physical qualifications.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 750 hours Total Time (TT) and Commercial Multi-Engine Land Instrument (CMELI) ratings OR a minimum of 500 hours TT with a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating.
- Valid FAA Medical Certificate.
- Recent flight experience is required.
- Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of applicable aviation regulations.
- Possession of an unrestricted U.S. Passport.
- Possession of an FCC Radio License.
- A record free of any violations or FAA enforcement actions.
- Candidates must be able to pass a drug screening and background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance is mandatory.
- Required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to the first deployment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 100 hours multi-engine flight time.
- Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certification.
- Previous flight experience in a Learjet or Gulfstream aircraft.
- Prior international flight experience.
- Proficiency in a second language.
- A valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with appropriate aircraft type ratings is highly desirable.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to perform the following physical tasks:
- Sitting for extended periods in the pilot's or assigned jump seat with restraints fastened without modification.
- Meeting the visual acuity standards established by the FAA medical requirements.
- Clearly hearing verbal communication in person, via telephone, and through a headset amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Moving freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined aircraft environment to perform all necessary functions.
- Utilizing hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Performing tasks that may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Possessing specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
