First Officer, Q400 – WestJet Encore

WestJet Encore invites applications for a skilled and dedicated First Officer to join its flight operations team in Calgary, AB. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a leading Canadian airline known for its admired corporate culture and commitment to guest experience. First Officers at WestJet Encore provide safe and efficient air travel across an expansive network, operating a fleet of state-of-the-art De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) turboprop aircraft. This role requires team-oriented individuals who will provide leadership to flight crews and serve as a brand ambassador for WestJet's corporate values.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 750 hours total flight time.
• At least 100 hours of fixed-wing pilot-in-command (PIC) time.
• Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating.
• Valid Transport Canada Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• Possession of a Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
• Successful completion of either the IATRA or the SAMRA and SARON examinations (must be valid).
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• A current, valid passport and, if not a Canadian passport holder, a Canadian Permanent Resident Card.
• Ability to travel unrestricted to all WestJet Encore destinations (any required visas and/or travel documents are the sole responsibility of the candidate).
• Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) prior to the completion of Initial Ground School.
• Clear police background and criminal record check.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.
• Oral and written proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and experience, including but not limited to:

• Accumulated flight time exceeding 1000 hours.
• Experience with multi-engine and multi-crew operations.
• Previous internal experience as a WestJetter.
• Graduation from one of WestJet's partnership schools.
• Flight instructors holding a minimum Class 3 instructor rating with over 1200 hours total time.

Pilot-in-Command Under Supervision (PICUS) Program

WestJet Encore proudly supports a PICUS program, enabling First Officers holding a CPL to accrue valuable PICUS flight time and experience. First Officers may log 200 hours in an Encore aircraft, with a maximum credit of 100 hours PICUS towards Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) requirements, as detailed in CAR 421.11.
