Purpose of Position

The Simulator Second in Command is responsible for maintaining currency in assigned programs to serve as the Second-in-Command for both internal and external customer pilots during recurrent, initial, or generic training courses.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients in multi-crew aircraft training who lack a flying partner, without performing instructional duties.
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with assigned program requirements and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations remain current.
  • Perform SIC duties across various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. with two to three years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings, with a minimum of 450 flight hours.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. A second language may be necessary at specific Learning Centers.
  • Communication: Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse customers.
  • Professional Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular use of hands/fingers to manipulate controls, reaching, and the ability to talk or hear. Physical agility is required to enter/exit the simulator via ramps and to exit the device during malfunctions, even in severely pitched attitudes. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The employee must frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Work is performed near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, vibration, and other industrial hazards. The noise level is typically moderate.
