Role Overview
WestJet Encore is seeking professional First Officers to join our flight operations team. Pilots in this role provide safe, efficient air travel across our network while operating state-of-the-art De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) turboprop aircraft. The successful candidate will serve as a brand ambassador for WestJet, demonstrating leadership and commitment to our corporate values while fostering a memorable travel experience for our guests.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

750 hours total flight time.
-
100 hours fixed-wing pilot-in-command (PIC) time.

Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating.

Valid Transport Canada Class 1 Medical Certificate.

Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).

Completion of either the IATRA or the SAMRA and SARON exams (must be valid through to PPC).

Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Current valid passport and, if not a Canadian citizen, a Canadian Permanent Resident Card.

Possession of all required visas or travel documents to allow unrestricted travel.

Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) prior to the completion of Initial Ground School.

Clear police background and criminal record check.

Successful completion of a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.

Professional proficiency in oral and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who exceed the minimum requirements, including:

Accumulated flight time exceeding 1,000 hours.

Experience with multi-engine and multi-crew operations.

Previous internal experience as a WestJetter.

Graduation from a WestJet partnership school.

Possession of a Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
Additional Program Information
WestJet Encore supports a Pilot-in-Command Under Supervision (PICUS) program for First Officers holding a CPL. Candidates may carry out 200 hours in an Encore aircraft, with a maximum credit of 100 hours PICUS towards ATPL requirements as detailed in CAR 421.11.
