About the Position

Operating a versatile fleet including the 737 Classic and NG series as well as the ATR 42 and 72, Canadian North provides a robust passenger and cargo network throughout the Canadian Arctic alongside a diverse charter program. ATR operations are based out of Yellowknife and Ottawa. Ottawa-based ATR pilots will generally deploy to support operations in Iqaluit with 6–14-day pairings. Safety is the organization's number one priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief Pilot (on type) for the safe operation of the aircraft and the safety of all persons on board during flight.
  • Conducting flights in accordance with Canadian North Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensuring the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft by adhering to the Canadian North safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program to identify, communicate, and mitigate hazards and risks.
  • Successfully completing a Transport Canada Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) and maintaining company qualifications.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Minimum of 750 hours total flight time, or 250 hours total flight time for graduates of a recognized aviation degree/diploma program (or equivalent).
  • Valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with completion of either a valid IATRA or SARON and SAMRA exams.
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating.
  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
  • Current valid passport (or Canadian Permanent Resident Card for non-passport holders).
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing unrestricted international travel.
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) in accordance with the Transport Canada regulated Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program.
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut is considered a definite asset.
