Canadian North | ATR42/72 First Officer

Canadian North seeks a First Officer for its ATR 42 operations based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This full-time, on-site role involves supporting scheduled passenger and cargo flights across the Canadian Arctic.

About the Role

The First Officer will serve as second-in-command to the Chief Pilot, with primary responsibility for the safe operation of the ATR 42 aircraft and the well-being of all individuals on board. Operations will be conducted in strict accordance with Canadian North Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role emphasizes maintaining the highest safety standards by adhering to company policy, utilizing safety reporting programs to identify and mitigate hazards, and contributing to continuous improvement through process review. Successful completion of a Transport Canada Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) is mandatory.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• No previous experience required; graduates of recognized aviation degree/diploma programs may be considered with 250 hours total time.
• A minimum of 750 hours of total flight time.
• A valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
• Completion of either a valid IATRA or SARON and SAMRA exams.
• A valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating.
• A valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate.
• Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
• A current, valid passport or Canadian Permanent Resident Card if not a Canadian passport holder.
• All required visas or travel documents enabling unrestricted travel.
• Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card as per Transport Canada regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• The ability to communicate in Inuktut is considered a significant asset.
