Position Purpose

The Simulator Second in Command (SIC) maintains program currency to act as a Second-in-Command for internal and external customer pilots during Recurrent, Initial, or generic training courses. The SIC ensures the delivery of high-quality training in accordance with established curricula and internal standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a competent Second-in-Command for clients in multi-crew aircraft training who lack a flying partner, without performing instructional duties.
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualifications in strict accordance with assigned program requirements and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations remain current.
  • Act as SIC across various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.

Qualifications

Education

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D., with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

Candidates must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings, with a minimum of 450 flight hours prior to the start of an assignment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) with strong communication skills.
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication capabilities.
  • Proven ability to interact professionally with diverse customer bases.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing schedules and high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in a second language may be required at specific Learning Centers.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular use of hands, arms, and controls, as well as the physical range of motion to manipulate rudder/anti-torque controls, operate simulator devices, enter and exit the device via a ramp, and exit a simulator during a severely pitched malfunction. Employees must possess specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds is required. The work environment occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, outdoor weather, and noise.
