Simulator Second in Command (SIC) - FlightSafety International

FlightSafety International is seeking a qualified Simulator Second in Command (SIC) to join their team in DFW Airport, TX. This role involves acting as SIC for customer pilots undergoing various training courses within multi-crew aircraft simulator environments. The position requires maintaining currency and qualifications in assigned simulator programs to ensure smooth and effective training delivery.

About the Role

  • Serve as a competent Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft simulators, when they attend training without a flying partner.
  • Function as a SIC without performing instructional duties.
  • Maintain SIC pilot qualification in accordance with assigned program requirements and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations for SIC duties are current.
  • Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with two to three (2-3) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
  • Minimum of 450 flight hours.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English, including verbal and written communication; ability to speak, understand, read, and write.
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with diverse customers.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.
  • A second language may be required in specific learning centers.
  • Must possess the physical range of motion to operate simulator controls, including rudder and anti-torque pedals, manipulate simulator controls, and safely enter/exit the simulator device.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • The role involves working with hands, reaching, and talking/hearing.
  • May require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and tasting/smelling.
  • Must be able to safely exit a malfunctioning simulator in a pitched attitude.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places and exposed to various environmental conditions including weather, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
