FlightSafety International is seeking a Simulator Second in Command (SIC) to provide support for internal and external customer pilots undergoing training courses at their facility in Long Beach, California. This role involves acting as a competent SIC in multi-crew aircraft simulators, ensuring currency in assigned programs and adhering to FlightSafety's quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft simulators when they do not have a flying partner.
  • Maintain pilot qualification for SIC duties in accordance with assigned programs.
  • Adhere to FlightSafety International's Quality Management Systems (QMS) for SIC qualification.
  • Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations for SIC duties remain current.
  • Act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients.

Requirements

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
  • Minimum of 450 flight hours.
  • Fluency in English, demonstrated through verbal and written communication, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write.
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with diverse customers.
  • Adaptability to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by two to three (2-3) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role involves regular use of hands for object manipulation, reaching, and talking/hearing. The position may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and tasting/smelling. Candidates must possess the physical range of motion to operate simulator controls, including foot pedals, and safely enter/exit the simulator. Specific vision abilities such as close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary. The ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds frequently, is required. The work environment may include proximity to moving mechanical parts, high places, and exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards.
