Position Title: Simulator Second-in-Command

Purpose of Position

The Simulator Second-in-Command (SIC) maintains currency in assigned training programs to act as the SIC for internal and external customer pilots during Recurrent, Initial, or generic training courses. The SIC performs these duties within the established training curriculum and remains responsible for supporting pilots in multi-crew aircraft training environments.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as Second-in-Command for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who require a flying partner; this role is strictly operational and does not include instructional duties.
  • Maintain pilot qualification in accordance with program requirements and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensure all certificates, ratings, and designations required for SIC duties remain current.
  • Operate as SIC across various aircraft types for Part 142, EASA, and other client requirements.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the training program as required.
  • Note: This position requires the legal eligibility to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Minimum Experience Requirements

Candidates must possess the following certificates prior to the commencement of any SIC assignment:

  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
  • Multi-engine instrument rating.
  • Advanced UPRT certification.
  • ATPL theory.
  • Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) certification.
  • Minimum of 70 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent cockpit verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with a diverse customer base.
  • Capacity to adapt to dynamic, high-pressure scheduling environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular manual dexterity, physical mobility, and the ability to operate simulator rudder controls and internal device instrumentation. Candidates must be capable of entering and exiting the simulator via a ramp and performing emergency egress procedures, including scenarios where the device is in a severely pitched attitude.

Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Work environments may involve exposure to mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions typical of a simulator facility.
