Flight Attendant

Responsibilities

Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, often on short notice.

Fulfill reserve assignments and be away from base for extended periods.

Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.

High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college is preferred.

At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).

Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, audibly and effectively in emergency situations.

Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.

Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Italian.
-
Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Effective communication skills in high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.

Professional appearance and grooming standards, with adherence to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.

Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if not larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) and not offensive in nature.

Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.

Must possess a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas, with at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application, and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.

Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold).

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.

Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water during training.

Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.

Must pass a 10-year background check, ensuring background does not prohibit travel to any United destination.

Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
Benefits and Compensation

Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.

Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
