Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and service standards.
- Engage directly with customers, resolving issues with understanding and grace.

- Represent United Airlines with pride and distinction.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
- Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
- Operate electronic devices for task completion.
- Participate in flight attendant training, including water evacuation drills.
- Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards according to company guidelines.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED. Two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Greek fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed specific size limits and must not be offensive in nature.
- Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application.
- Must have current physical possession of a valid passport book with applicable visas and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to overhead bins or exit windows), and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes on.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and reserve days, to support a 24/7 operation.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history, ensuring no restrictions on travel to any country United serves.
- Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, including specific audiometry and visual acuity standards.
Training and Onboarding
- Six-and-a-half weeks of Initial Training in Houston, TX.
- Training includes learning United's safety and service standards.
- Base assignment in one of seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or other flight attendant base locations.
- Stipend of $140 per week during training, including dual occupancy hotel accommodations and two meals per day.
- Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.
- Post-training base orientation required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with top of base scale at $67.11 per hour.
- Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
