Flight Attendant

United Airlines is seeking dedicated and service-oriented individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. This role offers the opportunity to travel the world, support customers, and contribute to a dynamic and growing airline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a positive and optimistic demeanor.
  • Effectively engage with customers, utilizing outstanding interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding and compassion.
  • Represent United Airlines with pride and distinction.
  • Adapt to various customer-facing scenarios and influence customer loyalty through excellent service.
  • Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice.
  • Fulfill reserve assignments and be away from the assigned base for extended periods.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED required; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
  • Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, audibly sufficient for emergency situations.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
  • Fluent in Dutch (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
  • Professional appearance and grooming standards, with willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
  • Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed a credit card size and must not be offensive.
  • Decorative covers, adornments, and jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
  • Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).
  • Must possess a valid passport book with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.
  • Must currently possess a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold, simultaneous).
  • Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
  • Willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
  • Must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
  • Must pass a 10-year background check, ensuring no restrictions to travel to any country United serves.
  • Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
