Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew.
  • Deliver a "People-First" demeanor, adapting to various customer-facing scenarios with optimism and positivity.
  • Directly engage with customers, utilizing outstanding interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding and compassion.
  • Influence customer loyalty through excellent service and represent United Airlines with pride and distinction.
  • Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, fulfilling reserve assignments on short notice and being away from base for extended periods.
  • Demonstrate dependability and timeliness critical to operational success and customer satisfaction.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
  • Successfully complete an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
  • Operate electronic devices for task completion.
  • Assist with lifting heavy objects, such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits, and push and pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Perform functional reach assessments to operate equipment, machinery, and doors.
  • Sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, education, aviation, social service).
  • Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Hebrew.
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in high-stress situations such as aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather conditions, and turbulence.
  • Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
  • Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Tattoos in these areas cannot be covered by makeup or bandages. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if they are not larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or are covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive.
  • Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.
  • Current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United Airlines serves without restrictions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push and pull beverage carts.
  • Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United Airlines' 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
  • Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, ensuring no restrictions to travel to any country United Airlines serves.
  • Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, including specific audiometry levels and 20/40 or better corrected vision for both eyes.

Training and Onboarding

  • The role begins with a 6.5-week Initial Training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and service standards.
  • During training, trainees receive a stipend of $140 per week, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and one additional meal per day.
  • Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, employees are welcomed as full-time United employees.
  • Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.
  • Pre-employment requirements include a DOT drug screen, background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with potential to reach $67.11/hour based on seniority.
  • Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
  • Bonus eligible position (profit sharing).
