Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest levels of safety for passengers and crew.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a positive and optimistic demeanor.
  • Directly engage with customers, utilizing outstanding interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding and grace.
  • Influence customer loyalty through excellent service and represent United with pride.
  • Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
  • Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
  • Operate electronic devices for task completion.
  • Adhere to strict grooming and uniform guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service).
  • Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, audible in emergency situations.
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
  • Must be able to read and speak Hebrew fluently.
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Professional appearance and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
  • Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card and must not be offensive.
  • Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application.
  • Current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
  • Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.
  • Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water during training.
  • Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
  • Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, and have a background that does not prohibit travel to any country United serves.
  • Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
  • Seniority-based pay increases.
  • Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
  • Bonus eligible position (profit sharing).

  • Flight privileges for employee, family, and friends (stand-by status).
  • During training: $140/week stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and one additional meal per day.
  • Upon successful training completion: $1,000 bonus.
