Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
-
High school graduate or GED required; 2 or more years of college preferred.

A minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service).

Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.

Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.

Must be able to read and speak Hebrew fluently.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Effective communication skills in high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuation, security threats, medical emergencies, and severe weather.

Professional appearance and grooming standards, with adherence to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos must not be larger than a credit card or must be covered by standard uniform pieces and must not be offensive. Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.

Proficient ability to operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).

Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.

Must have current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas, and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.

Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without restrictions.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to overhead bins), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes on.

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.

Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training.
-
Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
-
Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.

Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, ensuring no restrictions for travel to any United destinations.

Must meet hearing and vision requirements as established by the FAA and United Airlines, including no hearing loss on audiometry in the better ear greater than 40 dB (averaged at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz), and each eye must be 20/40 or better corrected for both far and near vision.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting hourly pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.

Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Flight privileges for employees, family, and friends on a stand-by basis.

During training: $140/week stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and one additional meal per day.

Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.

This position is bonus eligible (profit sharing).
Training and Onboarding
Initial training is a 6.5-week program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, flight attendants will be assigned to one of seven hubs or other base locations. Relocation funds are not provided. Base orientation follows training.
