Flight Attendant

Job Summary
As a Flight Attendant, you will be responsible for upholding United's safety and service standards. You will undergo comprehensive training and be assigned to one of our major hubs. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility and a commitment to providing outstanding customer experiences.

Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.

High school graduate or GED required; 2 or more years of college preferred.

At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social service).

Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner, with sufficient volume for emergency communication.

Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand German fluently.

Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.

Effective communication skills, particularly in high-stress situations such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.

Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards, with willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.

Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or must be covered by standard uniform pieces and must not be offensive in content.

No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are permitted.

Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.

Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.

Current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.

Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to overhead bins or window exits), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).

Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes on.

Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.

Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.

Must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.

Must pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history, ensuring eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.

Must meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, including specific corrected vision standards (20/40 or better in each eye for far and near vision) and audiometric standards (hearing loss not greater than 40 dB in the better ear averaged at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz).
Compensation and Benefits

Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with potential to reach $67.11 per hour based on seniority.

Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Bonus eligible position (profit sharing).

During training: $140 weekly stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day.
