Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew members.

  • Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays, fulfilling reserve assignments on short notice and being away from the base for extended periods.
  • Maintain dependability and timeliness to ensure operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
  • Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding German.
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Ability to effectively communicate during high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
  • Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
  • Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, fingers, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) and must not be offensive in content.
  • Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
  • Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) for task completion.
  • Must possess a valid passport book with at least 18 months of remaining validity prior to its expiration at the time of application.
  • Must currently possess a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restrictions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push and pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes on.
  • Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water during training.
  • Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
  • Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
  • Must meet hearing and vision requirements as established by the Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines.

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
