Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant is responsible for:

Qualifications
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must meet the following qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, or social service).
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in a manner that can be heard in an emergency.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Greek.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Visible tattoos on the arms, wrists, legs, and feet may not be larger than a credit card/employee badge or must be covered with standard uniform pieces and must not be offensive.
- No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check.
Compensation and Benefits
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88 per hour, with top of base scale at $67.11 per hour.

Training
New Flight Attendants will participate in a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Upon successful completion of training, graduates will be assigned to one of United's hub locations: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of its other flight attendant base locations. Relocation funds are not provided. Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.
