Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, projecting voice effectively in emergencies.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluency in Greek (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards and uniform guidelines.
- Tattoos are permitted on arms, wrists, legs, and feet, provided they are no larger than a credit card/employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) and are not offensive. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear.
- No decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, in support of United's 24/7 operation.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens (medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited).
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check without restrictions to travel to countries United serves.
Locations:
Upon successful completion of training, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hubs or flight attendant base locations, including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles, or one of our other flight attendant base locations (relocation funds not provided).
