Engineering Test Pilot
Genesys Aerosystems, a Moog Inc. company, seeks an experienced Engineering Test Pilot to join their team in Mineral Wells, TX. This role reports to the Chief Test Pilot and requires an on-site work schedule. In this challenging and rewarding position, the Engineering Test Pilot will conduct flight test and evaluation projects for a range of aircraft and avionics systems, including fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and non-standard platforms. This individual will be responsible for ensuring safe and professional flight operations in support of flight test, demonstrations, system integration, product development, and certification. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations for flight operations and aircraft certification, with the ability to serve as an ODA Unit Member and/or FAA Flight Test Pilot DER.
Responsibilities will encompass:
- Providing expert test pilot input on assigned programs, including technology/research and product development initiatives, to ensure the identification and resolution of man-machine interface issues.
- Offering DER/UM pilot expertise and safety/regulatory guidance to internal departments during design definition, flight test planning, flight test execution, test reporting, and proposal preparation.
- Identifying and reporting customer-related, man-machine interface, and certification issues to Program Management/Engineering teams.
- Authoring and/or reviewing development or certification test plans and reports for assigned flight tests.
- Participating in the planning, coordination, and short-term scheduling of tests to be performed on assigned aircraft.
- Collaborating with flight test engineers to ensure proper aircraft configuration for test objectives.
- Planning and conducting development and certification flight test activities.
- Gathering quantitative and qualitative data to determine performance characteristics during flight test.
- Preparing and distributing comprehensive Flight Reports following each assigned test flight.
- Performing FAA evaluation flights as needed to support ODA or other civil certification projects.
- Supporting the training department in developing training materials for various avionics products.
- Conducting classroom and/or aircraft training for customers and internal personnel.
- Providing regulatory/safety/system consultation from a pilot perspective to project personnel and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring a strong technical foundation and a proven track record in flight test:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- FAA Commercial pilot certificate with dual-rating (rotorcraft and airplane) preferred.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours total flight time.
- Two or more years of experience as a test pilot on developmental flight test programs.
- FAA Second Class medical certificate.
- Graduation from a recognized Test Pilot School or equivalent training.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% to support offsite flight testing.
- Physical ability to operate cockpit flight controls with specified force requirements.
