About the Role

Merlin Labs seeks a passionate and skilled Test Pilot to join our Flight Operations team. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the forefront of aerospace technology, driving the development and testing of our innovative autonomy systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead capability testing on our test aircraft, working closely with the engineering team to support the development of our autonomy systems.
• Develop and implement processes for flight test preparation, execution, and analysis as a lead project pilot.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, flight controls, integration, and flight operations teams to develop test plans, ensure test readiness, and drive efficient data collection for system evaluation.
• Execute flight tests onsite, including tasks such as building and approving test cards, verifying procedures and software via simulation, serving as test pilot, and generating comprehensive flight test reports for analysis and deficiency reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in experimental flight testing or a combination of equivalent formal training and experience.
• A strong understanding of basic fixed-wing aircraft flight dynamics and control.
• A commitment to contributing to the success of our flight test program, including willingness to fly small airplanes, work on-site in Mojave, CA during critical testing periods, and acquire new skills as needed.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong organizational abilities.

Logistics

We are open to considering candidates who can travel to Mojave for Flight Test activities. Travel and expenses will be covered by Merlin Labs.
