About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Flight Test Pilot to join our team in Olathe, KS. The Flight Test Pilot 3 will provide technical leadership in all aspects of flight test operations, taking on a critical role in the development and certification of new aviation systems.
Responsibilities:
- Flight Test Expertise: Serve as Pilot in Command for experimental aircraft, conducting complex and moderate-risk flight tests. This includes defining operational characteristics, maintaining complex aircraft configurations, and collaborating with engineering teams.
- Project Leadership: Lead moderately complex flight test projects, including drafting comprehensive ground and flight test plans, even for unprecedented test scenarios.
- Certification & Documentation: Analyze flight data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Utilize deep knowledge of aircraft certification processes to author certification plans and contribute to project documentation, including flight manuals.
- Safety Advocacy: Collaborate with safety analysis teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of flight test procedures and safety protocols.
- Mentorship & Guidance: Share expertise and mentor less experienced Flight Test Pilots, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent academic record with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Commercial Pilot Certificate.
- Second Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time, including a minimum of 200 hours of flight test experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing advanced engineering and flight test tools.
- Solid understanding of aircraft certification processes and relevant regulations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Experience in systems engineering or software development.
- Flight Test Pilot DER or ODA Unit Member Qualification.
- Helicopter pilot qualifications.
