Flight Test Pilot 2 – Olathe, Kansas
Garmin International seeks a highly skilled and experienced Flight Test Pilot 2 to join our team in Olathe, Kansas. Responsibilities:
The Flight Test Pilot 2 will be responsible for a range of flight test activities, including:
- Conducting simple and moderately complex flight tests as Pilot in Command on experimental aircraft with minor modifications to certificated designs.
- Leading simple flight test projects, developing comprehensive ground and flight test plans and reports.
- Utilizing operational understanding of the system under test to contribute to system design improvements.
- Maintaining basic test aircraft configurations and coordinating effectively with engineering and maintenance teams.
- Operating data acquisition systems, processing flight data, and addressing any identified aircraft or installation issues through troubleshooting and coordination.
- Contributing to the development and review of flight manuals and technical publications.
- Identifying and verifying the resolution of flight test issues.
- Leveraging a basic understanding of certification processes and regulations in the review of certification plans for basic projects.
- Proactively offering suggestions to enhance the safety and efficiency of flight test operations.
- Providing timely and effective solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem-solving techniques.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering, and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Valid Commercial Pilot Certificate.
- Second Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 1,000 hours total flight time.
- Demonstrated understanding of certification processes and associated regulations.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to perform moderately complex troubleshooting and debugging.
Preferred:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Experience with general aviation products.
- Understanding of system safety analysis.
- Experience in systems engineering or software development.
- Helicopter pilot qualifications.
