Test Director - Rotary Wing Simulation

The Opportunity
The Test Director will provide essential operational military multi-engine fixed-wing or rotary wing expertise to our team, contributing to the design, development, production, testing, and sale of simulation training devices. This role is responsible for building, leading, and executing system test plans, ensuring project requirements are verified and validated prior to customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Test Director for rotary wing projects.
- Serve as Project Pilot and Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Establish and develop training for departmental pilots.
- Support research and development activities.
- Participate in and lead meetings and reviews as SME for assigned programs, including:
- Project team meetings.
- Internal program reviews.
- Customer reviews (authoring, coordinating, and leading formal reviews with customers as required).
- Support new business efforts by providing SME expertise, including:
- Training task analysis.
- Training media analysis.
- Technical specification reviews.
- Responses to Requests for Proposal (RFP).
- Provide support to Program Managers as needed.
- Lead all test activities.
- Ensure a clear understanding of all requirements for assigned projects.
- Provide operational input during the proposal stage for projects.
- Support marketing efforts for prospective projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience in military aviation or simulation engineering required.
- Minimum of 6 years operational military aviation experience.
- Instructor Pilot or Maintenance Test/FCF Pilot experience desirable.
- Army CH47F experience highly desired.
- Must possess or be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to apply aviation/technical knowledge to troubleshoot simulated or actual aircraft systems during device testing and development.
- Commercial Rotary wing and Instrument licenses preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
- Analytical/technical skills required.
- Ability to isolate and troubleshoot faults.
- Familiarity with and ability to operate simulation training devices.
- Excellent communication and leadership qualities to effectively collaborate with Engineering, Customers, and Operations Staff.
Work Environment
- The position requires extended periods of sitting.
- Ability to climb stairs to enter and exit simulators is necessary.
- Travel within CONUS and OCONUS for extended periods to support project work is required.
- Routine travel supporting site modifications and installs (up to 50%) is expected.
- The role operates in a professional office environment.
- Moderate levels of work stress associated with technical, schedule, and customer issues are to be expected.
- Extended work hours and occasional 2nd or 3rd shift assignments may be required.
