The Bell Training Academy Team
The Bell Training Academy (BTA) Pilot is a crucial member of the training team, responsible for instructing clients and customers globally on Bell aircraft regarding critical aircraft systems, comprehensive mission planning, and advanced in-flight operations. This instruction is delivered through classroom lectures, cutting-edge training devices, flight simulators, and live aircraft flight training across various Bell models.
This role requires a dedicated professional capable of extensive worldwide off-site travel to provide academic and flight training to Bell’s global customer base. The incumbent will also support ancillary flight missions, including return-to-service flights, specialized sales and marketing flights, and domestic and international ferry flights on an as-needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (BTA Pilot)
The Bell Training Academy Pilot is responsible for the following key functions:
- Delivering comprehensive academic ground instruction and highly effective simulator training for visual and instrument flight operations.
- Coordinating and participating in the development and refinement of flight and ground training courseware.
- Ensuring strict compliance with established flight safety protocols and practice area procedures.
- Interfacing collaboratively with maintenance facilities to confirm aircraft are adequately prepared and certified for safe flight operations.
- Maintaining adherence to all applicable Aviation Authority requirements, regulations, and standards.
- Traveling domestically or internationally as required to meet customer training demands (approximately 15% travel required).
- Providing expert subject matter expertise during critical sales and marketing flight initiatives.
- The incumbent must maintain schedule flexibility, potentially working shifts outside of the standard 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule, based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess the following essential skills and experience to qualify for this influential position:
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional Helicopter Aviation experience.
- Possession of a current Commercial Rotorcraft license.
- Current certification as a CFI/CFII (or AGI for ground instruction specialists).
- At least 1,000 hours of total time logged in helicopters.
- A minimum of 500 hours logged as an instructor pilot.
- No history of revocation of any pilot’s license by the FAA or any other regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of consistently meeting departmental objectives.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
- A proactive, detail-oriented, and goal-focused approach to instruction and operations.
- Proven ability to thrive and contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and MS Projects.
Preferred Qualifications
The following certifications and experience are highly advantageous:
- Possession of an ATP – Rotorcraft certificate.
- Experience utilizing Night Vision Goggles (NVG).
- A minimum of 500 hours of documented instrument flight experience.
- High familiarity with Bell products; prior certifications or qualifications received for specific Bell model aircraft are a significant asset.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Increased level of experience based on instruction time in aircraft.
- Prior experience instructing for other recognized Civil Aviation Authorities.
- Prior experience completing FAA/EASA audits.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while effectively managing deadlines and priority changes under pressure.
