Purpose of Position
Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is actively seeking qualified Pilot in Command (PIC) candidates for a Gulfstream G500 aircraft based at Bedford, MA (KBED). Please note that while EJM manages the aircraft, the flight crew members are directly employed by the aircraft owner, not EJM. This specific account operates under Part 91 regulations and is supported by a dedicated team of seven pilots and three maintenance technicians. The G500 is projected to fly approximately 350 hours annually, with up to 20% of its operations being international. The account also includes a Gulfstream G800 and an AW139 helicopter. Candidates residing within a two-hour drive of KBED are strongly preferred, as this is not a commutable position. A proven track record with GV or GVI type ratings and extensive experience is highly desirable.
The Pilot in Command (PIC) holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all flights are conducted in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. The PIC is dedicated to adhering to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently providing an exceptional service experience to passengers.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Verifies that crewing and trip assignments fully comply with all company policies and regulatory mandates.
- Completes all necessary flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assigned flight.
- Employs the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Adheres strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates seamlessly with company personnel as required. Serves as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
- Conducts all pre-flight aircraft tasks, meticulously reviewing the maintenance status of the aircraft to confirm mission capability. Records all aircraft discrepancies in strict accordance with company SOPs.
- Monitors and ensures that all aircraft ground servicing requirements (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen levels) are met and accomplished in full compliance with SOPs.
- Performs passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations. Delivers the highest caliber of customer service, addressing any special needs of passengers, including those with physical challenges.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to facilitate clear and timely communication with crew members and support personnel during all phases of operation, including normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides superior service to aircraft owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to elevate the EJM service standard. Investigates and resolves service deviations promptly and effectively.
- Collaborates constructively with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to ensure a consistent and outstanding service experience for owners and passengers. Manages and resolves conflicts and challenges in an acceptable and professional manner.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all required regulatory and company-mandated training and recency of experience.
- Complies with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and promptly reports any safety concerns or instances of non-compliance through the appropriate channels.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications (KSAOs)
- Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is preferred.
- Possession of a current FAA Type Rating in the applicable fleet: GV and/or GVI.
- Must be capable of performing all essential functions of the position.
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total Flight Time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument Flight Time: 300 hours
- Jet Flight Time: 500 hours
Base Salary Range
Large/Heavy/Premium Cabin Aircraft: $220,000 - $330,000
