Position Overview
Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Berkshire Hathaway company, is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pilot in Command for a Gulfstream G500 aircraft. This exceptional opportunity is based at Hillsboro, OR (KHIO) and involves Part 91 flight operations. The successful candidate will join a dedicated three-pilot team operating a factory-new Gulfstream G500 within a robustly supported flight department.
This role offers the chance to pilot one of the world's most advanced business jets, flying approximately 300 hours annually, primarily within the domestic U.S. with occasional international assignments. The Gulfstream G500 boasts industry-leading performance, cutting-edge safety systems, and superior passenger comfort, featuring the innovative Symmetry Flight Deck with active control sidesticks, advanced fly-by-wire technology, and one of the most spacious, quiet cabins in its class.
The Pilot in Command assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the aircraft, adhering to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an unparalleled service experience. Prospective candidates must either reside within a 2-3 hour drive of Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) or be prepared to relocate, and all applicants must satisfy the specified minimum qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command will be entrusted with a comprehensive range of responsibilities, focusing on safety, operational excellence, and an unparalleled service experience:
Ensuring Safe and Compliant Flight Operations:
- Ensuring that all crewing and trip assignments adhere strictly to company and regulatory standards.
- Executing thorough flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for every assignment.
- Leading mandatory briefings using the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) methodology to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
- Strictly complying with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinating effectively with company personnel. Serving as the designated Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator in accordance with company policy.
- Diligently completing all pre-flight tasks, including verifying aircraft maintenance status, to ensure mission readiness. Accurately recording all aircraft discrepancies per company SOPs.
- Overseeing and ensuring the proper accomplishment of all aircraft ground servicing activities, such as fueling, oil, and oxygen, in line with SOPs.
- Conducting comprehensive passenger briefings as required by company policy and regulations, while consistently delivering the highest level of customer service and accommodating any special passenger needs.
- Applying Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to facilitate clear, timely communication with crew and support personnel during all phases of flight, including normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Providing superior service to aircraft owners and passengers, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Proactively investigating and resolving any service deviations.
- Fostering collaborative relationships with fellow crew members and internal EJM partners to ensure a consistent and elevated service experience for all passengers. Adeptly resolving conflicts and challenges in a professional manner.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Upholding all regulatory and company-required training and maintaining currency of experience.
- Strictly adhering to the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and promptly reporting any safety or non-compliance concerns through established channels.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates are expected to possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:
- A current GVII type rating is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated prior experience in corporate or business aviation.
- Ability to reside in or willingness to relocate to Hillsboro, OR, as this is a non-commutable, base-required position.
- Capability to perform all essential functions of the Pilot in Command role.
Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total Flight Time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
- PIC Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
Compensation
EJM offers a competitive base salary for this position, ranging from $275,000 to $325,000 for large/heavy/premium cabin aircraft.
