Pilot-in-Command (PIC) - Wildfire Air Attack Operations (Kodiak 100)
Role Summary and Responsibilities
The organization is seeking highly dedicated aviators for the critical role of Pilot-in-Command (PIC), supporting essential wildfire suppression and resource protection missions. The PIC serves as the definitive air asset during high-tempo emergency operations.
The Pilot-in-Command operates a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assigned Kodiak 100 aircraft, providing vital support during initial and extended attack wildfire suppression operations. Core functional duties include:
- Providing essential Air Attack / Air Tactical Group Supervisor (ATGS) support to ground and air resources.
- Meticulous coordination and management of airspace, including the establishment and control of Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) and Fire Traffic Areas (FTA) before, during, and after an incident.
Minimum Flight Experience Requirements
Candidates must meet the following minimum flight hour requirements (Airplane category):
- Total Flight Time: Minimum 1,500 hours.
- Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time: Minimum 1,200 hours.
- PIC Time in Category and Class to be Flown: Minimum 200 hours.
- Recency Requirement (PIC Time within the preceding 12 months): Minimum 100 hours.
Licensing and Certification
Qualified applicants must possess the following current and valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications:
- An FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate (Airplane) or a Commercial Pilot License (Airplane) with Instrument Rating.
- A current FAA Class 1 or Class 2 Medical Certificate. The medical certification must remain valid through November of the current or upcoming fire season and requires subsequent annual renewal.
