Southern Airways, a subsidiary of Surf Air Mobility, seeks a highly skilled and motivated Captain to operate the Caravan C-208 aircraft. This pivotal role contributes to the airline's commitment to "Every Passenger, Every Day, Every Flight," ensuring exceptional service and prioritizing passenger safety across its network throughout the contiguous United States and the Hawaiian Islands. The Captain will report to the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations.

This is an exempt position with a demanding yet rewarding opportunity for professional growth within a rapidly expanding airline. Southern Airways, operating under Southern Airways Express and Mokulele Airlines, has a well-established charter operation, added Essential Air Service operations in 2016, and intra-island flights in Hawai’i. This route structure typically enables pilots to be home each day during their workweek, and schedule flexibility is provided. Base locations include DUJ, BFD, BRL, MGW, MKG, LNS, HOT, HRO, ELD, UIN, MKL, HNL, OGG, and KOA.

Responsibilities:

The Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the C-208 aircraft, adherence to company procedures, and ensuring the well-being of passengers and crew.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current FAA ATP or Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating
  • 1200 hours total flight time, including 500 hours cross-country, 100 hours night, and 75 hours instrument time (no more than 25 hours simulated)
  • Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate (must be current prior to training)
  • Radio Operators Certificate
  • Valid US Passport (for CASS participation)
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986
  • Successful completion of a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

  • C-208 experience
  • 100 hours Turbine total time
  • Part 135 experience

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Guaranteed 65 block hours per month

  • $10,050 Training Contract for 12 months
