Lead Captain - Gulfstream G700 (KOXC)
Clay Lacy Aviation, a globally recognized leader in corporate aviation, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Captain for a brand-new Gulfstream G700. This exciting full-time opportunity is based at Oxford-Waterbury Airport (KOXC) in Oxford, Connecticut.
The Lead Captain will serve not only as a primary flight crewmember but also as the essential liaison between the aircraft account and Clay Lacy Aviation. This pivotal role demands robust communication and coordination with the Account Manager (ACM), Director of Maintenance (DOM), Director of Training, Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP), and Trip Support Specialists. The Lead Captain is instrumental in fostering a collaborative work environment, upholding Clay Lacy Aviation’s culture and standards within the flight department, and ensuring strict crew compliance with all applicable regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Position Overview
- Position: Lead Captain
- Aircraft: Brand-new Gulfstream G700
- Location: Oxford-Waterbury Airport (KOXC), Oxford, CT. Candidates must reside within a two-hour drivable commute of the base.
- Operation Type: Primarily Part 91 and Part 135 operations, with an estimated 400 annual flight hours.
- Employment Type: Full-time employment only; no contract positions.
- Compensation: A competitive annual salary ranging from $380,000 to $390,000.

Key Responsibilities
Flight Operations & Crew Leadership:
- Serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) as designated, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Gulfstream G700.
- Ensure strict compliance with all flight and maintenance schedules, directives, and regulatory requirements governing aircraft operation.
- Monitor and ensure crew adherence to flight and duty time limitations as outlined in the General Operations Manual (GOM) for Part 135 operations, or reasonably align with Part 135 standards for Part 91 operations.
- Oversee the thorough accomplishment of pre-flight and post-flight duties and inspections in accordance with the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM).
- Monitor crew members’ performance and provide constructive feedback to the Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) for annual performance reviews.
- Coordinate and manage crewmember days off and vacation requests, relaying information to the ACP for schedule inclusion and seeking owner approval from the ACM when necessary.
- Act as a primary liaison with the Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) and Director of Training.
- Conduct monthly reviews of pilot currency and upcoming training/evaluation requirements.
- Perform annual aircraft "black book" audits in collaboration with Flight Operations and the ACP.
- Ensure the flight department's compliance with fleet requirements, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and required paperwork.
- Maintain familiarity with all installed equipment on the aircraft and ensure all required regulatory aircraft operational authorizations and mandates are current.
Maintenance & Administrative Coordination:
- Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance (DOM) and Account Manager (ACM) to ensure the aircraft is cleaned as necessary or scheduled.
- Manage aircraft inventory to meet owner or user requirements, potentially delegating to a Cabin Attendant if assigned.
- Remain aware of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events affecting the aircraft.
- Assist Clay Lacy Aviation in the resolution and communication of mechanical AOG (Aircraft on Ground) events when required.
- Review monthly work order invoices.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Maintenance Controller (or DOM if assigned) regarding all maintenance-related items and squawks to ensure effective communication of maintenance scheduling to all relevant parties, including Scheduling Specialists and the ACM.
- Complete and approve crew expense reports in accordance with Clay Lacy Aviation policy.
- Review monthly billing summaries and report any discrepancies to accounting and the ACM.
- Ensure all trip-related requests or changes from the aircraft owner (or charter client) are effectively communicated to the Charter Department and Chief Pilot’s office.
- Assist in gathering any required operationally related data for special projects or reporting as requested.
- Update the Scheduling Specialist regarding aircraft schedule changes and other matters that may affect the scheduling of aircraft, crews, or contract pilots/cabin attendants.
- Coordinate regular flight department meetings with the ACM, DOM, Scheduling Specialist, and Managed Billing to discuss and manage activities, maintenance events, budgets, identify problems, answer questions, convey owner feedback, and establish future improvement projects and goals.
Team & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships within the flight department and with all external stakeholders, including Clay Lacy Aviation personnel.
- Ensure the perpetuation of Clay Lacy Aviation’s company culture among flight department members.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve efficiency in processes and procedures within Clay Lacy Aviation, communicated via the ACM or Safety Management System (SMS) if required.
- Work collaboratively with the Account Manager (ACM) to optimize the overall experience for aircraft owners.
- Participate in the interview and selection process for all flight department personnel in conjunction with the ACP/Chief Pilots.
- Communicate with the ACM for input and/or approval on all operational, personnel, and administrative issues.
- Propose recommendations for additional training for flight department members (e.g., conferences, safety training, industry events) to the ACM and ACP.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Candidates must possess the minimum flight experience necessary to safely operate the assigned Gulfstream G700 in full compliance with company Operational Specifications, the General Operations Manual, and the Flight Operations Manual, while also meeting account management requirements.
- Significant Gulfstream or large cabin aircraft experience is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough familiarity with applicable FAA Part 91 and/or FAA Part 135 requirements for the assigned aircraft type.
- Must maintain current flight requirements, holding an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- A current First Class Medical Certificate is required.
