PC-12 First Officer
The PlaneSense PC-12 First Officer serves as Second-In-Command, assisting the Captain throughout all phases of flight operations. This role demands adaptability to active and rapidly changing flight schedules, supporting decision-making in coordination with the Captain.
Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of aviation weather, federal aviation regulations, international customs, immigration requirements, specific aircraft systems, and company policies and procedures. Thorough familiarity with flying in both IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and VFR (Visual Flight Rules) environments is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in reviewing weather and NOTAMs.
- Verify and cross-check flight information provided by the Flight Operations Center.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies/procedures.
- Conduct preflight aircraft inspections, ensuring overall aircraft cleanliness and readiness.
- Update navigation databases and charts.
- Obtain IFR clearances.
- Load passenger luggage.
- Provide a high-quality, professional customer service experience to passengers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Commercial Pilot License, Single-Engine Land (SEL) with instrument rating.
- 1st or 2nd Class FAA medical certificate.
- 750 hours total flight time.
- Excellent IFR knowledge and superior Basic Attitude Instrument (BAI) flying ability.
- Superior customer service and communication skills.
- Current passport with unrestricted international travel privileges.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1000 total flight hours or greater.
- 75+ hours of instrument time (for highly qualified consideration).
- Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) rating.
Highly Qualified Candidates

- Experience in corporate or charter operations (Part 135 or Part 91 Subpart K).
- Familiarity with technically advanced aircraft.
- Time in turbine aircraft, particularly the PC-12.
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- A demonstrated history of leadership in aviation roles such as Safety Officer, Lead Flight Instructor, or Chief Pilot.
- Military flight experience, especially with tactical or mission-oriented backgrounds, showcasing discipline and adaptability in dynamic flight environments.
Computer Skills
- Familiarity with Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) and advanced aircraft systems.
Selection Process

Physical Demands
The role requires meeting specific physical demands to successfully perform essential functions, including:
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 12+ hours) in a confined cockpit.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate flight controls, avionics, and communication equipment.
- Ability to reach, bend, and twist inside and outside of the aircraft cockpit.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, and turn with items weighing up to 100 pounds (e.g., flight bags, charts, passenger luggage, emergency equipment).
- Ability to efficiently respond to in-flight situations and execute emergency procedures.
Work Environment
Employees must perform duties in various weather conditions and under time constraints, with potential exposure to:
- A primary work setting within an aircraft cockpit, often in confined spaces with limited mobility.
- Varying weather conditions, including turbulence and extreme temperatures during flights.
- Frequent travel, including overnight layovers and irregular schedules (weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts).
- High-altitude environments with changes in cabin pressure.
- Long hours with potential for fatigue, managed within FAA rest and duty regulations.
- Regular interaction with co-pilots, crew members, air traffic controllers, and passengers.
- Mild physical discomforts such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, bright lights, fuel, deice/anti-ice fluids, and other HAZMAT classified items.
