Job Overview
The Vice President of Flight Operations provides direct leadership and supervision for critical operational teams, including the Senior Director SOCC, Director of Operations, Director of Inflight, Director of Operations Training, Director of Flight Operations Engineering, Chief Pilot, and the Crew Member Contract Administrator. This executive role ensures the seamless operation of the flight department, with the capacity to assume the duties of direct reports during temporary absences, provided all requisite qualifications are met for any 119 position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and maintains all contractual agreements pertinent to flight operations.
- Manages and directs all facets of Flight Operations Engineering, encompassing aircraft performance data, infrastructure (routes and airports), FMS data customization, NOTAMs, and equipment specifications and requirements.
- Develops and implements comprehensive operational policies.
- Ensures the timely and accurate reporting, filing, and follow-up actions for all occurrences with relevant government agencies.
- Serves as the primary liaison with the FAA on all operational matters, including airmen qualifications, regulatory compliance, and adherence to all applicable laws.
- Possesses signature authority for official matters involving the FAA.
- Manages and maintains training records for all crewmembers and dispatchers/flight followers.
- Prepares and oversees reports and correspondence related to operations and flight crews.
- Responsible for the meticulous management of flight and duty records.
- Ensures comprehensive oversight of all flight operations records.
- Guarantees that flight operations is equipped with necessary facilities, workspace, equipment, and supporting services, fostering a safe and secure work environment that meets all operational safety and security requirements.
- Maintains an in-depth understanding of company manuals, Operations Specifications, and FAA Regulations.
- Cultivates and sustains close professional relationships with domestic and international regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and other essential external entities relevant to flight operations.
Qualifications
Pilot License
Possession of a valid Pilot License is required.
Experience
A minimum of ten years of previous Director-level experience in a relevant field is mandatory.
Background Check
Must successfully pass a comprehensive 10-year background check, including an FAA-required fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
Physical Activity Requirements
- Standing/Walking: Approximately 5% of the time.
- Sitting: Approximately 90% of the time.
- Travel: Approximately 30% of the time.
- Lifting: Ability to lift overhead up to 50 lbs.
