Job Summary
Jet OUT seeks to appoint a Base Chief Pilot in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, to uphold and advance a distinguished level of professionalism and safety within the company's flight department. This pivotal role involves direct supervision and serving as the primary point of contact for all pilots assigned to the base. The Base Chief Pilot's core function is to provide comprehensive support to pilots and flight department personnel, fostering robust communication channels between base staff and Jet OUT's main office.
The Base Chief Pilot is expected to possess an in-depth understanding of Jet OUT's General Operations Manual, General Training Manual, Operations Specifications, and all other company-issued manuals. Furthermore, extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and the AFM for all aircraft based at the location is essential.
Key responsibilities include active participation in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development of new employees. This also encompasses conducting recurrent training, checking events, and regular performance reviews for base pilots. The role involves expertly managing interpersonal, performance, and disciplinary matters, coordinating local pilot schedules and training initiatives, implementing new and updated operational procedures, and undertaking other tasks crucial to Jet OUT's continued growth.
Occasional travel to Milwaukee, WI, other Jet OUT bases (current and future), and various locations for training and operational support is anticipated.
As a valued member of Jet OUT's management team, the Base Chief Pilot will also assume responsibilities beyond the flight department. This includes representing Jet OUT in interactions with local FBOs and other service providers, overseeing safety and security protocols, and facilitating local drug testing. Additional duties may be assigned by executive leadership to support Jet OUT's strategic objectives.
This position is instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and operational efficiency, directly contributing to Jet OUT's overall success.
Key Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Chief Pilot.
- Maintains a close, collaborative liaison with the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations regarding all department operations.
- Maintains command proficiency as a Pilot-in-Command on the CJ4 aircraft.
- Actively participates in pilot interviews, hiring, onboarding, and separation processes.
- Provides direct supervision to local flight crew personnel.
- Serves as a mentor to newly hired flight crew members.
- Coordinates with the Training Manager to ensure optimal training for flight crews.
- Conducts or effectively supervises training activities for flight crews.
- Performs 135.293a and 135.299 checking events.
- Conducts regular performance evaluations for flight crew personnel.
- Manages local pilot flight schedules efficiently.
- Coordinates schedules for commuter pilots.
- Addresses and resolves local pilot performance, interpersonal, or disciplinary issues.
- Submits all required reports concerning flight crew personnel to the Chief Pilot.
- Facilitates seamless communication between the local base and Jet OUT's main offices.
- Ensures all aircraft are appropriately equipped for their intended operational use.
- Participates in scheduled meetings with the Chief Pilot and/or Director of Operations.
- Assists Jet OUT in the development of operational policies, ensures their coordination, and oversees operational and training alignment.
- Contributes to updates of company manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and checklists.
- Maintains responsibility for crew flight and duty records, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards set by Jet OUT and the Federal Aviation Administration.
- Supervises the distribution and posting of all information and memoranda pertaining to changes in company policy, route information, navaids, NOTAMs, and the acquisition of flying aids and aeronautical charts.
- Ensures all flight crew personnel are certified and supervised in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in Part 135 or Part 121 operations.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Pilot-in-Command in turbojet operations.
- ATP Pilot Certificate with AMEL (Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, Airplane Multi-Engine Land).
- Current 1st Class Medical Certificate.
- 3,500 Hours Total Flight Time.
- 1,500 Hours Multi-Engine Flight Time.
- 500 Hours Turbofan Flight Time.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Permit.
- Must reside within a one-hour commuting distance of Fort Worth (FTW).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience as a Pilot-in-Command in Part 135 or Part 121 operations.
- 4,000 Hours Total Flight Time.
- CE-525 Type Rating.
- 100 Hours of CE-525C flight time.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in Aviation Management.
- International flight operations experience.

Salary
- Starting salary of $150,000, with regular raises based on years of service.
Bonus Opportunity
To be eligible for the bonus opportunity, applicants must first be approved by insurance to serve as Pilot-in-Command following the completion of Jet OUT's Captain OE (25 hours). Additionally, candidates must already hold a PIC CE-525 type rating and successfully complete initial training.
