Position Overview
Amentum is seeking a professional Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Chief Pilot to support FAA projects at the FAA Tech Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This role provides critical oversight for UAS photogrammetric mapping and advanced sensor mapping systems, contributing to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), and geospatial information management services. The Chief Pilot will operate within the Amentum Geospatial Information Systems Program in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) and/or Visual Observer for flight planning, execution, and risk management.

Perform pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, NOTAM review, airspace requirements, and tower coordination.

Execute operational risk management reviews and maintain safety through briefings and checklist implementation.

Validate mission-specific UAS and sensor capabilities, including RGB, thermal, and LiDAR configurations.

Document and report on UAS missions, equipment maintenance, inventory, and pilot logbooks.

Conduct ground control surveys using RTK/PPK GPS equipment.

Process spatial data, photogrammetry, and design documents, ensuring deliverables meet professional standards.
Position Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in aeronautics, engineering, computer science, environmental science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of UAS piloting experience.

Certification:
Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.

Licensure:
Valid driver's license.

Technical Skills:
Strong technical capacity with the ability to master diverse hardware, software, and operational workflows.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to travel as needed to conduct UAS missions and transport equipment.
Desired Qualifications

Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.

Proficiency in GPS/GPS RTK field equipment and data processing.

Applied knowledge of surveying references, including coordinate systems, projections, datums, geoids, and state plane zones.

Experience with geospatial mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Pix4D, Drone2Map) and surveying tools.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range:
$80,779 - $107,131
Note: Actual compensation is based on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
