Position Overview: Fire Boss Chief Pilot
The Fire Boss Chief Pilot is responsible for providing high-level flight instruction, pilot services, and training program oversight for Wipaire Fire Boss aircraft. This role ensures all flight operations adhere to FAA regulations and internal syllabi, while maintaining safety standards and managing pilot qualifications. The Chief Pilot will lead the Advanced Flight Training and Leasing (AFT&L) operations, acting as a technical expert and key liaison for both internal and external customers.
Primary Responsibilities

Direct all AFT&L Fire Boss operations, training programs, and course curriculum development.

Manage pilot scheduling and resource allocation to meet internal and external requirements.

Develop and maintain comprehensive training materials, including program syllabi, classroom presentations, and simulator programs.

Provide ground and flight training for AT-802 and 802A Fire Boss aircraft, including amphibious operations, water scooping, and aerial firefighting techniques.

Conduct ferry flights, test flights, and evaluations for aircraft released from maintenance or engineering.

Support the sales team through mission profile development and provide professional customer service regarding flight training quotes and inquiries.

Maintain accurate flight records and documentation in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards.
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Credentials

Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (Single Engine & Instrument required; Multi-engine preferred).

Commercial Pilot’s Certification required (ATP preferred).

Current United States passport.

Minimum of 3,000 hours total flying time.

Minimum of 400 hours in Airplane Single Engine Sea (ASES).

Minimum of 200 hours of Fire Boss experience.

Airtractor 802 Instructor Certification.

Required endorsements: Complex, High Performance, and Tail Wheel.

Required ratings: Seaplane and Instrument.

Type certified in applicable aircraft.

Ability to pass an FAA 2nd class medical physical exam and comply with federal drug testing requirements.

Preferred: 200 hours of low-level flight (below 500 feet AGL), including at least 100 hours dispensing fire retardant, water, or agricultural materials.

Proven experience in low-level disbursement and aircraft firefighting.

Expertise in aircraft control, spatial awareness, and predictive timing regarding flight maneuvers.

Strong instructional skills with the ability to adapt to various learning styles and present complex technical information.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training material development software.

Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, often unsupervised environment.

Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and sitting for long hours during flight operations.

Flexibility for approximately 40% domestic and potential international travel.
