Position Summary
Jet Aviation Staffing is seeking a highly qualified Chief Pilot to lead and oversee flight operations and training programs. This role is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and leadership of flight operations, ensuring that all activities conducted under the Air Carrier Certificate are performed safely, efficiently, and in full regulatory compliance. The Chief Pilot will provide strategic leadership, maintain operational control, and support the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) in collaboration with the Director of Operations and executive leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Flight Operations Leadership

Organize, staff, supervise, and direct all company flight operations.

Provide oversight for all flight department personnel.

Exercise limited operational control authority as authorized by the Director of Operations.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Training Program Management

Administer and oversee all pilot training programs, including initial, recurrent, upgrade, and special-emphasis training.

Ensure compliance with FAA-approved training requirements and company standards.

Monitor pilot proficiency, maintain qualification/certification records, and conduct line checks or standardization evaluations.
Safety Management Systems (SMS)

Actively promote the SMS and ensure personnel participation in safety reporting.

Investigate and address safety risks and deficiencies; participate in Safety Review Board meetings.

Foster a "Just Culture" environment and support organizational learning through trend analysis.
Flight Standards and Regulatory Compliance

Maintain aircraft checklists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Ensure strict adherence to FAA regulations, Air Carrier Operations Specifications, and the General Operations Manual (GOM).

Prepare for and manage FAA inspections, audits, and industry accreditations (WYVERN Wingman, IS-BAO, ARGUS).
Operational Communications and Personnel Leadership

Disseminate safety-related information and serve as a liaison with external vendors and regulatory bodies.

Mentor flight personnel and oversee performance management, including hiring, evaluations, and professional development.
Required Qualifications
-
Meets all FAA qualifications for Chief Pilot under 14 CFR Part 119.

Valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate for the category of aircraft operated.

Current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate.

Qualified in accordance with the company’s approved training program to serve as Pilot-in-Command on at least one company aircraft.

Comprehensive knowledge of FAA Parts 91, 119, and 135; SMS principles; and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as an FAA-approved Chief Pilot.

Pilatus PC-24 type rating and operational experience.

Experience with WYVERN Wingman, IS-BAO, and conducting pilot evaluations.

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business, or Management.

CFI, CFII, and MEI certifications.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The role requires the ability to perform duties as a flight crewmember, maintain medical certification, and travel as needed. The candidate must be capable of working in dynamic airport environments, including climbing aircraft stairs. This position demands flexibility to respond to operational and safety needs outside of traditional business hours.
