Contour Aviation is seeking an Assistant Chief Pilot for its Headquarters in Smyrna, TN. This full-time role provides pilot leadership across all domiciles and serves as an active crewmember, ensuring safe and efficient flight operations.
About the Role
The Assistant Chief Pilot reports to the Chief Pilot and assumes the Chief Pilot's duties in their absence. This position is instrumental in providing pilot leadership, guidance, coaching, and support to ensure operational safety and efficiency. The role also focuses on the continuous improvement of flight operations processes and pilot standards. The Assistant Chief Pilot will act as an active crewmember while supervising company pilots and ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations, company policies, and operational specifications.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise company pilots to ensure safe flight operations in accordance with regulations, operations specifications, company policies, and pilot work rules.

Ensure flight operations comply with company policies and all applicable federal, state, local, and foreign regulations.

Maintain the required number of qualified flight crew members to meet company operational needs.

Conduct line supervisory flying to uphold pilot professionalism and standards.

Maintain high standards of performance, image, and conduct for pilots, ensuring compliance with company policy.

Administer disciplinary action in coordination with management and Human Resources.

Conduct pilot interviews and perform other assigned duties.

Assist with administrative tasks of the Chief Pilot's Office.

Encourage employee suggestions for process improvements and error reporting.

Represent the company in various external activities.

Maintain current knowledge of the General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and applicable federal regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements

At least 23 years of age.

Authorized to work in the United States and able to travel internationally.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Proficient in understanding, reading, and writing English.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word) and similar software.

Ability to pass a 10-year work history review, criminal background check, and fingerprint check.

Ability to pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and subsequent random testing.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of experience with a regional or major airline.

Possession of a U.S. Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.

Possession of a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.

Type rated, or capable of becoming type rated, on a Contour-operated aircraft.

Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Comprehensive understanding of Contour’s General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and applicable 14 CFR Parts 119 and 135.
