Contour Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Assistant Chief Pilot to join its team at headquarters in Smyrna, TN. This pivotal full-time role involves providing strong pilot leadership across all Contour domiciles, ensuring safe and efficient Part 135 operations, and serving as an active crewmember. The Assistant Chief Pilot will assume Chief Pilot duties in their absence and contribute significantly to maintaining the highest operational standards.

Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot, this role involves providing crucial pilot leadership across all Contour domiciles and assumes Chief Pilot duties in their absence.

The Assistant Chief Pilot serves as an active crewmember and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient Part 135 flight operations in compliance with all applicable CFRs, Operations Specifications, and Company policies.

Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring company pilots, driving continuous improvement in flight operations standards, and maintaining the required number of qualified flight crew members.

This position is delegated limited authority for operational control of flight operations by the Director of Operations and acts as a Company representative in industry and community activities.

Demonstrated leadership in aviation operations, with experience in pilot supervision, coaching, and mentoring.

Strong commitment to safety and compliance with federal aviation regulations (CFRs), company policies, and operational specifications.

Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, delivered with professionalism and tact.

A customer-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and the ability to motivate and work effectively with diverse personalities.

Meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding operational standards and documentation.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to lift up to 70 pounds.

Comprehensive understanding of Contour’s General Operations Manual (GOM), Operations Specifications, and 14 CFR Parts 119 and 135.
Qualifications

Minimum age of 23 years.

Authorized to work in the United States and able to travel internationally.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Proficiency in English (understanding, reading, writing).

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word) and similar software.

Ability to pass a 10-year work history review, criminal background, and fingerprint checks.

Successful completion of a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and willingness to undergo FAA and Company-mandated random drug and alcohol testing.

Qualification through training, experience, and expertise consistent with 14 CFR 119.69 and 119.71 for Chief Pilot responsibilities in 14 CFR Part 135 operations.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of experience with a regional or major airline.

Possession of a U.S. Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.

Possession of a First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.

Currently type rated, or capable of becoming type rated, on a Contour-operated aircraft.
