Position Overview
EJM is actively seeking qualified candidates for a Pilot in Command position on a Gulfstream G450 aircraft based in Houston, TX (KCXO). This opportunity supports a two-pilot flight account under Part 135 operations, complemented by a dedicated Maintenance Technician. The G450 aircraft under EJM's management is impeccably maintained and represents a valuable addition to the company’s Part 135 certificate. The aircraft is estimated to operate approximately 300 hours per year, with about 200 hours dedicated to retail charter flights. Frequent destinations include Los Angeles, Miami, Salt Lake City, and various Caribbean locations.
This is a non-commutable position. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Houston area. Applicants residing within a 3-hour driving radius of Conroe, TX (KCXO), particularly those in the Austin (AUS) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) areas, will also be considered. A G450 or G550 (V550) type rating is strongly preferred for this role.
The Pilot in Command holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. This role requires strict adherence to all company policies and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an exceptional service experience to clients and passengers.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Operations & Safety Leadership:
- Assumes final responsibility for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the aircraft.
- Ensures all crewing and trip assignments meet company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes all necessary flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment.
- Utilizes Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Complies strictly with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates with company personnel as required.
- Acts as the designated Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator in accordance with company policy.
- Completes all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including verifying the maintenance status, to ensure the aircraft is mission capable.
- Records all aircraft discrepancies in strict accordance with company SOPs.
- Monitors and ensures the completion of all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) according to SOPs.
- Delivers comprehensive passenger briefings aligned with company policy and regulations.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to ensure clear and timely communication with crew members and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Flight Department Management:
- Leads the flight department's overall success and manages important client relationships, balancing client needs with company objectives.
- Proactively communicates to address current or potential issues or opportunities related to flight department operations.
- Collaborates closely with assigned maintenance personnel or company designees to ensure compliance with all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance events.
- Ensures regular administrative tasks such as database updates, audits, and checklists are completed.
- Handles other duties expected of the aircraft owner/account representative, including invoice reviews, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling, in accordance with defined expectations.
- Supports flight department crew members, clarifying tasks and motivating them to achieve flight department goals while upholding the EJM brand. Reports any concerns or issues to the Regional Chief Pilot.
- Manages flight department administrative matters, including but not limited to office and aircraft supplies, subscriptions, and crew schedules, including associated communication.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Provides quality service to owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience.
- Regularly investigates and resolves any service deviations encountered.
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members and internal EJM partners to deliver a consistent and high-quality service experience to owners and passengers.
- Resolves conflict and challenges in a professional and acceptable manner.
Compliance & Proficiency:
- Maintains all required regulatory and company training and ensures recency of experience.
- Complies fully with the company SMS program and reports any safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Ensures all crew members assigned to the flight department remain qualified to act in their assigned capacity according to regulations and company policy.
- Ensures all crew members comply with company policies and that appropriate audits are in place.
Qualifications
Candidates should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Prior experience flying Part 135 operations.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Houston-Conroe area (strongly preferred), or reside within a 3-hour driving distance to KCXO (applicants from Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth are encouraged to apply).
- A G450 or G550 (V550) type rating is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions associated with the position.
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- Pilot in Command Multi Engine Land (PIC MEL): 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
