Position Overview

Executive Jet Management, a distinguished Berkshire Hathaway company, is actively recruiting skilled aviation professionals for a Gulfstream G450 position. This aircraft is based in Houston, Texas (KCXO) and operates under Part 135 regulations, supported by a two-pilot crew and a dedicated Maintenance Technician. EJM is pleased to integrate this exceptionally maintained aircraft into its managed fleet. The G450 primarily serves domestic U.S., Canada, Caribbean, and Mexico routes, with occasional transatlantic operations. This role involves approximately 300 flight hours annually, shared between retail charter and owner flights.

A Gulfstream G450, GV, or G550 type rating is strongly preferred. Candidates lacking a type rating must possess substantial flight experience in large-cabin Gulfstream aircraft and extensive international flight operations.

Please note: This position is not commutable. Pilots must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Houston metropolitan area. Applicants residing within a three-hour drive of Conroe, Texas, including those in the Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth areas, are encouraged to apply.

The Pilot in Command (PIC) holds ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated safely, compliantly, and efficiently, adhering to all company and regulatory mandates while delivering an exemplary service experience.

Key Responsibilities

Flight Department Leadership

  • Manage critical client relationships, effectively balancing client needs with EJM's operational requirements. Proactively communicate to address existing or potential issues and opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with assigned maintenance personnel or company designees to ensure adherence to all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance events, as well as routine tasks such as database updates, audits, and checklist completion.
  • Execute other responsibilities pertinent to aircraft owner/account management, including invoice reviews, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling, in alignment with defined expectations.
  • Support flight department crew members by clarifying responsibilities and motivating the team to achieve departmental objectives, while consistently representing the EJM brand. Escalate any concerns or issues to the Regional Chief Pilot.
  • Oversee flight department administrative functions, encompassing office and aircraft supplies, subscriptions, and crew scheduling, including associated communication with crewmembers.

Safe Flight Operations

  • Ensure crewing and trip assignments comply with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance assessments for each assignment.
  • Utilize the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to conduct necessary briefings and effectively mitigate operational risks.
  • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinate with company personnel as required. Serve as Ground Security Coordinator and In-Flight Security Coordinator as stipulated by company policy.
  • Perform all aircraft pre-flight tasks, verifying the maintenance status of the aircraft to ensure mission capability. Document all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Monitor and ensure all aircraft ground servicing requirements, including fueling, oil, and oxygen, are accomplished according to SOPs.
  • Conduct passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulations. Provide exceptional customer service, accommodating special passenger needs (e.g., passengers with physical challenges).
  • Employ Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to maintain clear and timely communication with crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.

Exceptional Service Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality service to owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Investigate and resolve service deviations promptly.
  • Collaborate with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to ensure a consistent and superior service experience for owners and passengers. Resolve conflicts and challenges effectively.

Proficiency and Compliance Maintenance

  • Maintain all regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
  • Comply with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and report safety or non-compliance concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure all crewmembers maintain qualifications for their assigned roles, adhering to regulations and company policy.
  • Verify that all crewmembers comply with company policies and that appropriate audits are in place.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous Part 135 flight experience is required.
  • Residency in or willingness to relocate to the Houston-Conroe area is strongly preferred.
  • Alternatively, residency within a three-hour driving distance to KCXO is acceptable (Austin and DFW applicants are encouraged to apply).
  • A Gulfstream G450, GV, or G550 type rating is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates without the specified type rating must possess substantial flight time in large-cabin Gulfstream aircraft and extensive international flying experience.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position.
  • Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
    • Total Flight Time: 3,500 hours
    • Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1,500 hours
    • Pilot in Command (PIC): 2,000 hours
    • PIC MEL: 500 hours
    • Instrument: 300 hours
    • Jet: 500 hours
