Lead Pilot in Command – Gulfstream G450 – Atlanta, GA (KPDK)
Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and a pioneer in aircraft management and worldwide jet charter services since 1977, seeks a highly qualified Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) for a Gulfstream G450 based in Atlanta, GA (KPDK). This Part 135 operation offers a unique opportunity to lead a flight department within a world-renowned private aviation organization known for its unwavering commitment to safety, service, and integrity.
Purpose of the Position:
The Lead PIC serves as a peer leader, fostering effective crew resource management and exceptional client service. This role involves active participation in the flight schedule, fulfilling all PIC duties and responsibilities, and overseeing the administrative functions of the flight department.
Responsibilities:
Flight Department Leadership & Administration:
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, proactively addressing concerns and identifying opportunities for service enhancement.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure meticulous compliance with all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events, regular tasks (database updates, audits, checklists), and aircraft maintenance status.
- Manage flight department administrative tasks, including invoice review, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling. This includes managing flight department supplies and subscriptions.
- Provide support and motivation to flight department crew members, ensuring understanding of tasks and goals, and reporting any concerns to the Regional Chief Pilot.
Safe Flight Operations:
- Ensure all crewing and trip assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including performance calculations and weight and balance.
- Utilize Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to mitigate operational risks.
- Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinate with company personnel as needed, acting as the Ground and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
- Perform all pre-flight tasks, documenting any aircraft discrepancies according to company SOPs.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with aircraft ground servicing (fueling, oil, oxygen).
- Deliver exceptional passenger briefings, adhering to company policy and regulations, and accommodating any special needs (e.g., passengers with physical challenges).
- Employ Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) for clear and timely communication during all flight operations.
Exceptional Service Delivery:
- Provide superior service to owners and passengers, actively seeking opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience.
- Collaborate with crew members and internal partners to deliver consistent, high-quality service. Effectively resolve conflicts and challenges.
Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintain current regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
- Comply fully with the company Safety Management System (SMS) program, reporting any safety concerns or non-compliance issues through appropriate channels.
- Ensure all crewmembers maintain qualifications and comply with company policies, and conduct necessary audits.
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience
- Prior corporate/business aviation experience preferred
- FAA Type Rating in applicable fleet
- Ability to perform all essential job functions
- Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
