Purpose of Position

EJM is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Lead Pilot in Command position to support a long-term account operating a Challenger 604 aircraft with Fusion Upgrade. Based at Teterboro, NJ (KTEB), this is a dedicated 3-pilot account supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician. The aircraft operates exclusively under Part 91 regulations, projecting approximately 400 flight hours annually. This role offers an exceptional quality of life, featuring only domestic flights, a stable 3-pilot crew, and scheduled monthly days off. The account also benefits from a dedicated Key Account Manager serving as the primary liaison for the owner. A highly competitive total compensation package, ranging from $300,000 to $400,000, is offered to candidates who are type-rated, possess extensive Challenger aircraft experience, and demonstrate proven leadership capabilities.

The Lead Pilot in Command serves as a peer-leader for the designated flight department, focusing on effective crew resource management, exceptional client service, and the efficient completion of flight department administrative duties. This role actively participates in the flying schedule while upholding all standard Pilot in Command responsibilities and expectations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Lead Pilot in Command is responsible for:

Leading Flight Department Success:

  • Managing crucial client relationships, effectively balancing the needs of the client and EJM.
  • Proactively communicating to address current or potential issues or opportunities.
  • Collaborating closely with maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with all aircraft maintenance events (scheduled and unscheduled) and the completion of regular tasks (e.g., database updates, audits, checklists).
  • Completing account-specific duties as directed by the aircraft owner/account (e.g., invoice reviews, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, crew schedules) in accordance with defined expectations.
  • Supporting flight department crew members, fostering their understanding of required tasks and motivating them to achieve flight department goals while representing the EJM brand.
  • Reporting concerns or issues to the Regional Chief Pilot.
  • Handling flight department administrative matters, including managing supplies (office and aircraft), subscriptions, and crew schedules, along with associated communication with crewmembers.

Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight:

  • Confirming that crewing and trip assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Completing flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment, as required.
  • Utilizing Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead necessary briefings and mitigate operational risks.
  • Complying with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinating with company personnel as needed.
  • Acting as the Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
  • Completing all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including reviewing the aircraft's maintenance status, to ensure mission capability.
  • Recording all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Ensuring all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are monitored and accomplished according to SOPs.
  • Completing passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulation.
  • Delivering the highest level of customer service and accommodating any special needs of passengers (e.g., physically challenged).
  • Utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.

Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:

  • Providing quality service to owners and passengers and identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience.
  • Regularly investigating and resolving service deviations.
  • Collaborating with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to ensure a consistent service experience for owners and passengers.
  • Resolving conflict and challenges effectively and professionally.

Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:

  • Maintaining regulatory and company-required training and recency of experience.
  • Complying with the company SMS program and reporting safety or non-compliance concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Ensuring all crewmembers remain qualified to act in their assigned capacity in accordance with regulations and company policy.
  • Ensuring all crewmembers comply with company policies and that appropriate audits are in place.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other (KSAOs)

  • Prior experience in corporate/business aviation is preferred.
  • FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Challenger 604).
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions associated with the position.
  • Minimum Flight Time Requirements:
    • Total flight time: 3500 hours
    • Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
    • Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours
    • PIC MEL: 500 hours
    • Instrument: 300 hours
    • Jet: 500 hours
