The Opportunity: Flight Procedures Developer, Technical Pilot
NetJets Aviation, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Procedures Developer, Technical Pilot to join its esteemed Flight Operations team. This critical role is responsible for the meticulous development and precise implementation of specialized approach, departure, and landing procedures for the diverse NetJets aircraft fleet. The successful candidate will ensure safe and efficient navigation under various flight conditions by expertly analyzing terrain, obstructions, airspace, and the specific capabilities of aircraft and avionics systems to create precise flight paths and approaches tailored to specific airports or regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Special Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs) in strict compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and other relevant international and domestic regulatory standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and analyses of existing flight procedures to identify areas for improvement, optimization, or opportunities for enhanced operational access.
- Collaborate effectively with air traffic control (ATC) personnel, NetJets pilots, and other internal and external stakeholders to gather essential requirements and feedback crucial for new procedure development and existing procedure refinement.
- Provide expert technical support and comprehensive training to internal teams and external stakeholders regarding the proper use and implementation of newly developed or revised Special Procedures.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of industry trends, technological advancements in aviation, and evolving regulatory changes pertinent to instrument flight procedures.
- Perform rigorous testing and validation of special procedures within FAA-approved Level D flight simulators. This includes ensuring flyability across each aircraft type, avionics accuracy, adherence to the highest safety standards, and full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Possession of an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is mandatory.
- Professional certification or specialized training in instrument procedure design standards (e.g., FAA TERPS, ICAO PANS-OPS) is required.
Experience
- A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in aviation, with a strong emphasis on flight procedures development, technical pilot roles, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience with FAA-approved Level D flight simulators is essential.
- Experience with flight inspection or flight validation processes is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAOs)
- Profound understanding of aviation regulations and industry standards.
- Proficiency in utilizing specialized design software and tools relevant to flight path and approach procedure design.
- Fluency in the fundamental concepts of performance-based navigation (PBN), Required Navigation Performance (RNP), Area Navigation (RNAV), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS), and Vertical Navigation (VNAV).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel in developing mutually functional and suitable flight procedures.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with the NetJets aircraft fleet is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $235,000 annually
