Job Description:
Mesa Airlines seeks dedicated and professional individuals for the role of Flight Attendant. As the primary representatives of the airline, Flight Attendants are expected to demonstrate exceptional reliability and punctuality while consistently delivering outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize customer safety and comfort, ensuring a secure and reliable onboard environment.
- Welcome passengers, manage carry-on baggage compliance, and guide passengers to their assigned seating.
- Maintain composure, respect, and empathy, particularly when navigating challenging situations or passenger concerns.
- Adhere to rigorous physical health and professional appearance standards.
- Master and perform all emergency procedures and confidently operate all onboard emergency equipment.
- Clearly and concisely explain the functionality of safety equipment to passengers.
- Provide beverage, snack, and meal service as required.
- Assist passengers with the proper stowage of carry-on items in overhead compartments or under seats.
- Educate passengers regarding Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Respond effectively to inflight medical situations and provide support for passengers requiring special assistance, such as unaccompanied minors, individuals with visual or hearing impairments, language barriers, the elderly, or those with physical challenges.
- Strictly comply with guidelines set forth in the Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, Flight Attendant Manual, and Code Share Partner standards.

Compensation:
Starting compensation for Flight Attendants is $18.67 per flight hour, escalating to $20.24 per flight hour after six months of service and $22.22 per flight hour after 12 months, with subsequent annual increases. Specific details regarding flight hours are discussed during the information session phase of the application process. The estimated average earnings for a Flight Attendant during the first year of employment are approximately $23,000.
Additional Compensation Opportunities:
Flight Attendants have access to numerous avenues for potentially augmenting their monthly income. These include participation in a crash-pad assistance program. Furthermore, should a Flight Attendant opt not to utilize company-provided hotel accommodations, Mesa Airlines contributes a portion of the hotel cost directly to the employee. Through these opportunities, a Flight Attendant could potentially earn an additional $500 per month, totaling up to $6,000 annually.
Base Locations:
The assignment of a base location for this position is determined by the company's operational requirements and seniority. Current operational bases include:
- IAD (Washington, D.C.)
- IAH (Houston, TX)
- SDF (Louisville, KY)
New hires receive a base assignment from this list during the initial training period.

Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; college credits or a minimum of two years of customer service experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of reliability, punctuality, and dependability.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Upon completion of training, willing and able to accept assignment to any of Mesa Airlines' crew bases based on operational needs, which may necessitate relocation or commuting.
- Prepared to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended duty periods.
- Height must be between 4'11'' and 6'0'' without shoes, with the physical ability to reach into overhead bins and galley compartments to access emergency equipment.
- Capable of performing all safety-related duties, including operating aircraft doors, lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds to shoulder height, assisting with passenger baggage stowage, and maneuvering meal and beverage carts.
- Maintain a consistently clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
- Ability to occupy the flight attendant jumpseat without modifications, walk comfortably down the aircraft aisle facing forward, and quickly fit through overwing exits.
- Vision must be a minimum of 20/40, corrected or uncorrected.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Possess and maintain a valid passport.
- Possess the legal authorization for unrestricted travel to and from all countries served by Mesa Airlines, including Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Cuba.
- Authorized to make multiple entries into the United States at will.
- Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including FBI fingerprinting and criminal history review.
- Successfully pass a DOT/FAA mandated pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and comply with random screening throughout employment. Screening includes testing for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, and amphetamines. Applicants should be aware that the DOT prohibits the use of medical marijuana for safety-sensitive employees.
