Overview
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Chief Pilot is responsible for overseeing flight crew records, flight time limitations, and qualifications to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and the maintenance of safe operations. This role is integral to flight operations management and safety within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Processes additions, changes, and deviations utilizing Safety Management System (SMS) Safety Risk Management (SRM) methods.
- Maintains a current master record section encompassing all crewmembers, aircraft, and flights conducted under the contract.
- Manages master copies of all required company-approved manuals, preparing and submitting revisions for approval as necessary.
- Provides direction and assistance to personnel under supervision on all matters pertinent to their company duties.
- Engages in daily interaction with the Director of Operations regarding all matters of importance to the operational directives.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of company policies and flight procedures.
- Maintains qualification and currency in the B-737NG in accordance with requirements and standards of a line captain.
- Manages the training and scheduling of pilots.
- Ensures that all active pilots meet the requirements and currency standards of 14 CFR § 121.
- Acts as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
- Serves as an integral participant in Safety Management System processes.
- Acts as a key contributor to the company safety culture.
- Ensures compliance with and enforcement of all security policies, procedures, and practices.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience, OR a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience is required.
- Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret DoD security clearance.
- Holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with a B-737NG type rating.
- Possesses a minimum of 3 years’ experience as Pilot in Command (PIC) in a B737NG operated under 14 CFR § 121.
- Holds and maintains an FAA Class 1 medical certificate.
