Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all assigned flight assignments. The Captain will exercise full authority over the flight, prioritizing safety, security, and quality in all aspects of operation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate (maintained)
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing Time
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land Time
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command Time
- 1,500 hours Turbojet Time
- 1,500 hours Turbine Time
- 100 hours Night Time
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument Time
- 5 years of aviation experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
- Valid driver's license
Main Responsibilities:
- Safe operation of the aircraft, including determining departure times and routes, and/or canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensuring complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implementing necessary changes en route to maintain flight safety under appropriate company policies and procedures.
- Conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurate completion of all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Recording aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Determining the flight crew's fitness for duty, including attire, mental state, and physical condition.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized sources.
- Filing or coordinating the filing of flight plans with the FAA or ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Performing the duties of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable security program.
- Conducting passenger safety briefings or assigning this duty to the Second in Command.
- Providing knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for Pilot in Command duties in emergencies or upon promotion to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completing and sending the leg manifest to Operations Control before each departure.
- Completing and sending the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control after each flight day.
- Actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegating duties while retaining responsibility for their execution.
- Performing other duties as needed.
- Representing Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
The position requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment may involve both heavy maintenance areas and upscale customer areas. Noise levels are usually moderate but can be high during aircraft arrivals and departures. Vibration is a frequent occurrence, and occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. Hangar temperatures can be extreme during certain seasons.
