Lead Captain - Challenger 350
Jet Aviation seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain to join its team in White Plains, NY. This position requires a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to safety, security, and quality.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Regional Chief Pilot, the Lead Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Challenger 350 aircraft, adhering to company policies and procedures. The Lead Captain exercises pilot in command authority and is the final authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights.
Responsibilities:
- Safety and Operations: Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions. Ensure compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations and policies.
- Flight Crew Management: Coordinate the aircraft schedule and training with the flight crew and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Aircraft Maintenance Coordination: Liaise with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, and any necessary repairs.
- Record Keeping: Ensure assigned crew members submit and review flight and duty records, as well as other required documentation.
- Training: In conjunction with the Manager of Training, coordinate crew member training and check rides based on the annual training calendar.
- Crew Member Management: Coordinate time off and training events while maximizing aircraft coverage. Ensure crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit.
- Mentorship: Mentor and coach crew members to support their professional development. Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Company Representation: Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Institute necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Ensure complete trip paperwork is accurately completed in accordance with current procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding with the second in command regarding all flight aspects.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and report them promptly to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as necessary.
- Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
- File or delegate the filing of flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate the duty to the second in command.
- Prepare the second in command to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon their upgrade.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to Ops Control before each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to Ops Control upon the completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues.
- Immediately report all safety hazards and concerns to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4,000 hours Total Fixed Wing Time.
- 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land Time.
- 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command Time.
- 1,500 hours Turbojet Time.
- 1,500 hours Turbine Time.
- 100 hours Night Time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument Time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without restrictions.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to handle, feel, or reach with hands and fingers. Frequent standing, walking, or sitting. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds above the head. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The Lead Captain will work in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The ability to work in all types of weather conditions is required. The hangar environment may be extremely hot or cold during certain seasons.
